Excipients are substances other than the pharmacologically active drug or prodrug which are included in the manufacturing process or are contained in a finished product dosage form.
Excipients play a crucial role in different formulations, affecting properties such as acceptability, rate of release of pharmaceutical actives, delivery-to-target tissues.
